Your family’s plans
are personal.

Gotchu is operated by Barter Agencies. Contact Drew Barter at hello@gotchu.com.au about privacy, access, corrections or deletion.

What Gotchu uses

Shared within your family

Members of the same Gotchu family can see the shared calendar, member profiles and assignments. Current family access also includes stored voice-log records. Adult invite codes grant family-management access: share them only with a trusted adult. Children and teenagers join through a QR approved by a parent or guardian. Keep both kinds of invitation private. Gotchu’s database rules restrict access by family membership.

Optional AI and speech recognition

Before using Voice or Type it, Gotchu asks permission to send your words, family names and nicknames, roles and usual shift times to OpenAI to suggest calendar entries. Your words may include children’s names or activities. Check suggested details before saving. You can decline or change your choice in AI settings and enter events manually.

Your phone’s speech-recognition service may process microphone audio through Apple or Google. Gotchu sends the resulting text, rather than an audio recording, to OpenAI. Gotchu does not store voice recordings.

Service providers

Google Firebase provides authentication, database storage and backend processing. Expo and Apple/Google notification services deliver push messages, which may include names, event titles and pickup times. OpenAI processes text when you allow AI. Netlify hosts this website and may process ordinary request details such as IP addresses for delivery and security. Processing by these providers may occur outside Australia.

Apple or Google processes store payments. RevenueCat verifies purchases and subscription access using account identifiers, purchase information and technical device/app information. Family subscription access is verified by Gotchu’s backend. Gotchu does not receive your full payment-card details. Children do not buy subscriptions through their linked access.

Retention and deletion

Family calendar data remains until removed from the family or deleted through the account flow. AI text logs are assigned a 90-day expiry. Automatic expiry cleanup is enabled. Deletion is asynchronous and typically occurs within 24 hours after expiry, although it can take longer. Expired logs can remain until queued deletion finishes. This cleanup does not remove saved calendar events. See account deletion for what is removed and what remains when a family member leaves.

Children’s information

Independent Gotchu signup is for people aged 18 or older, based on an age declaration; we do not collect birth dates or identity documents to verify that declaration. Parents and guardians can create child profiles and approve a child or teenager’s phone using a QR, without a child email or password. Linked children can read the family calendar and receive notifications; family changes, lift assignments, AI and purchases are reserved for adults. Parents can disconnect a child’s phone without deleting the profile or events. Age alone never changes these permissions. Parents and guardians should manage access and help children decide what to share. Avoid entering sensitive information that isn’t needed for the calendar. Contact us if a child’s information was entered without appropriate permission.

Your choices

You can edit calendar and family information, change AI permission, turn off notifications in your phone settings, and delete or request deletion of your account. Withdrawing AI permission stops future AI submissions; it does not by itself remove existing calendar entries or logs.

Advertising and tracking

The current Gotchu app has no advertising or advertising-tracking integration. This website has no analytics scripts or marketing cookies added by Barter Agencies.
